Indometacin, Indomethacin oder Indometazin (engl. indomethacin, indometacin) [1-(p-Chlorbenzoyl)-5-methoxy-2-methylindol-3-yl]-essigsäure ist ein Schmerzmittel aus der Gruppe der nicht steroidalen Anti-Rheumatika.
Hemicrania continua und die paroxysmale Hemikranie werden mit Indometacin behandelt. In seltenen Fällen kann hoch dosiertes Indometacin auch bei Cluster-Kopfschmerz eine positive vorbeugende Wirkung haben.[1][2]
Gegebenenfalls muss zusätzlich zum Indometacin ein Magenschutzmedikament gegeben werden (Protonenpumpen-Hemmer z. B. Omeprazol)). Die renalen Nebenwirkungen sind zu beachten. Durch Gabe von Zäpfchen können die gastrointestinalen Beschwerden verringert werden.
